The journey of a living craft
From fabric to finished heirloom - discover the craftmanship behind every chikankari piece.
Stitching
The cut fabric panels are carefully stitched together to create the basic structure and shape of the garment.
Chappai / Block Printing
Traditional wooden blocks are used to gently print temporary design markings onto the fabric, creating a guide for the embroidery artisans.
Hand Embroidery
Skilled chikankari artisans patiently embroider the printed patterns by hand using traditional stitches passed down through generations.
Washing & Finishing
Once embroidery is complete, the garment is carefully washed to remove the temporary chappai markings and reveal the finished hand embroidery.
Ironing & Final Finish
The finished kurti is carefully pressed, inspected and prepared so the embroidery. silhouette and craftmanship look their best.
